Originally called Melbourne Lodge- the property was built by John Stracey who was the colony's first auctioneer. It became a private school for boys in 1831- and then became the home for the Honourable George Salier- his wife Harriet and their fourteen children. For a period of over 180 years- many notable families have resided here- and the 13-room hotel is now listed by the National Trust and forms part of the National Estate - thus becoming part of Australia's lasting heritage.Each of the rooms has a different look and feel. All come with a private bathroom and some of the more luxurious rooms feature a spa and a 4-poster bed.A full continental buffet breakfast is included.
